Thursday 22 February 2007 Narrabeen Lagoon Catchment: Past, present and what about the future? Meeting at the Tramshed, Narrabeen 7-9pm. Cost: $7 per person (incl. drinks & nibbles). Bookings: email Judith Bennett at sydney.educ@npansw.org.au.
The Forum is being organised by Friends of Narrabeen Lagoon Catchment whose charter is to lobby for permanent environmental protection for the remaining bushland in the catchment.
Either Susan Moylan-Coombs or Lois Birk will be talking about the Aboriginal significance of Narrabeen Lagoon and its catchment.

Saturday 24th 10am-10pm & Sunday 25th March 10am-5pm Bilarong Cultural Festival. This years theme incorporates embracing diversity, promoting harmony and ensuring sustainability. Entertainment will include dance performances from many cultures, a special kids program, entertainment, stalls, interactive workshops and discussion forums. In preparation for this Festival and the Parade of Light, Pittwater Council is hosting two free community workshops for all ages on 11 and 21 March. All murals and lanterns created will be integrated into the Festival. To book a place at these workshops ph: 9970 1169.

Monday 26th March, 2007 10am Film: Bush School. An inspiring film released in 2006, about a school for Aboriginal children in remote Central Australia, will be screen at Council Chambers, Warringah Council. Monday 2nd April, 2007 7.30pm Guest Speaker: Indigenous Barrister, Norman Laing, will be speaking at the Aboriginal Support Group – Manly Warringah Pittwater information night. Norman is originally from Dunghutti country and is now living here in Guringai land. He will be speaking on the anniversaries being held this year, including the 40th anniversary of the 1967 Referendum and the 10th anniversary of the Bringing Them Home report. ALL WELCOME. ** ANNIVERSARIES TO REMEMBER **
This year marks three major events in the history of Aboriginal Reconciliation:
26th May - 10th anniversary of the tabling in Parliament of the
Bringing Them Home report.
27th May - 40th anniversary of the 1967 Referendum.
3rd June - 15th anniversary of the Mabo land rights judgement.

Saturday 26th May, from 10am Sorry Day March. March from the Sydney Town Hall to First Fleet Park, Circular Quay. This is the 10th anniversary of the tabling in Parliament of the Bringing Them Home report. Details: 0437 100 121or click here
Sunday 27th May, 4.30pm-6.30pm ASG Sorry Day Commemoration. Please join us in paying respect to the Stolen Generation. This is also the 40th anniversary of the 1967 Referendum.
A candlelit walk will proceed from the Tramshed Community Centre, Pittwater Rd, Narrabeen to the Scout Hall, Bilarong Reserve on Narrabeen Lake. MC’s: Clair Jackson, Nancy Wood and Helen Ford and Matthew Doyle will provide a Cultural Performance - didg, dance and story. Plus sausage sizzle.

RECONCILIATION WEEK – Sunday May 27 to June 3
Theme: ONE PEOPLE, ONE PLACE, ONE FUTURE
June 5, 12, 19, 26, 7.30-9.30pm Aboriginal Spirituality: Steps to Connecting to Country. This four week study program will be presented by Oomera Edwards. A great insight into Aboriginal Spirituality. Cost: only $50 for four weeks. Phone 9428 1197 or email kerriemckenzie@bigpond.com.

Friday June 29th, 9.30am Film: KANYINI. Kanyini is a story told by Uncle Bob Randall, Aboriginal Elder form Uluru. He explains how Indigenous people have been dispossessed from Kanyini, the four central aspects of life – belief system, spirituality, land and family. (This is an Aboriginal Support Group event in association with the Mustaca Family of Collaroy Cinema.) Doors open 9.10am as film will commence at 9.30am. Tickets $5. Monday July 2nd 7.30pm The Writings of Philip McLaren. Guest Speaker: Philip McLaren, Indigenous Author & Artist who lives on the Northern Beaches. His books are best sellers and have been translated into many languages for a growing international market. Philip has just completed an historical novel, or more correctly a docufiction (fully indexed documented fiction), about the real ‘Man from Snowy River’.

NAIDOC Week - 8 to 15 July 2007.
The national theme for 2007 is, 50 years: Looking Forward, Looking Blak.
NAIDOC celebrates the survival of Indigenous culture and the Indigenous contribution to modern Australia. All Australians are encouraged to participate in NAIDOC Week activities. Click here for more information.

Wednesday 22nd August, 7.15pm ANTaR invites you to the Premiere of a wonderful documentary film, Liyarn Ngarn, a moving story of culture, identity and land. Patrick Dodson, who co-produced the film, will be there for the evening, together with the acclaimed British actor Pete Postlethwaite, who tells the story of the film. They will be joined by Indigenous songman Archie Roach, whose presence adds such depth of feeling to the documentary. This will certainly be an extraordinary evening. There is no charge for the event: it is a particular treat for the ANTaR network, and to rekindle the fire in our bellies. If interested in attending this film

Monday 3rd September, 7.30pm Prof. Larissa Behrendt will lead a discussion on the Government's declared "national emergency" in Aboriginal communities. Larissa is a Professor of Law and Director of Research at the Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning at the University of Technology, Sydney. Larissa is a Judicial Member of the Administrative Decisions Tribunal, Equal Opportunity Division and the Alternate Chair of the Serious Offenders Review Board. The annual Guringai Festival, now in its 8th successive year, is a celebration of Aboriginal Culture and Heritage across Northern Sydney. Wednesday 18th June, 2008 at 10am LIYARN NGARN screening at Collaroy Cinema. Released last year, this haunting film tells personal stories of injustice told to English actor Pete Postlethwaite by Patrick Dodson and Bill Johnson whose Indigenous son Louis died tragically.
